Intro to the Enhanced Emergency Sexual Assault Services (EESAS)

This Youtube video describes a trauma informed model in which the existing skills of multidisciplinary professionals are used collaboratively to provide prompt sensitive and comprehensive care to victims. This approach emphasizes minimizing further trauma for victims, restoration of control to victims and collaboration. The health services range from working with sexual assault nurse examiners and specialized physicians in urban centres to ER nurses and physicians sharing the care in rural or smaller communities. The full 4 hour EESAS course is currently offered for free to any professionals working with victims of violence. A link to register for the course is on the “courses” page.
